Wohlwend Elementary has been working towards and accomplished a place-based education approach to learning at their school. By implementing place-based education, Wohlwend has emphasized connecting learning to their local community and the lived experiences of their diverse student body, which includes a significant population of Bosnian refugees. As part of implementing place-based education, they use a lens of ecology, culture, and economy to develop deeper learning across all subjects and topics and to deepen their connection to their local and global communities.
