Why Nature’s Gift Microschool (Indiana Microschool Collaborative) was nominated

The Indiana Microschool Collaborative launched the first of what will be many sites of public charter microschools this fall. Each site will respond to the needs of the communities in which they exist, with a goal of creating schools that students feel was designed just for them. Each school will feature highly personalized and competency based learning. The small size of each site makes it possible to have multi-age groupings and to leverage peer to peer tutoring.

Student experience design

A joyful, family-centered microschool surrounded by nature. Here, learning happens indoors and outdoors, with trails, open space, and nature itself woven into the school day. Students explore core academics through hands-on projects, build real-world skills, and grow within a tight-knit, joyful learning community. Our site is intentionally small and deeply personalized. Students move at their own pace while mastering essential skills—and families are true partners in the learning journey every step of the way.
