As an alternative school engaged in mastery-based learning and culturally responsive sustaining education, Innovation Lab is not just refining traditional structures, it is thoughtfully constructing new ones that center students’ identities, strengths, and voices. The school is actively building and piloting new systems that align with mastery-based learning, allowing students to demonstrate mastery in meaningful ways and progress based on readiness rather than seat time.
